The Art of Assertiveness "Straight Talking"
|
COURSE PROFILE
|
The past two or three decades have seen enormous changes in how most organisations function. Elaborate hierarchies have been simplified and flattened. Initiatives such as re-engineering, ‘just-in-time’ total quality management, and the use of project teams have made once-rigid structures much more fluid and flexible.
Head counts have been cut, putting those who remain under increased pressure. Markets have become more competitive and customers more demanding. For many of us the pace of work seems relentless.
Relationships at work have also changed. There is far more contact between people at very different levels and from different functions in the organisation than in the past. In addition we have become much less formal and deferential than was once the case.
All these factors put an increasing premium on our ability to communicate with one another and say what we want quickly, clearly and effectively, without either allowing ourselves to be trampled on or, at the other end of the scale, starting World War III.
That is why, for our own peace of mind and the efficiency of our organisations, we all need to learn how to be more assertive with one another. The Straight Talking Program explains how.
